Shipping Clerk

Position Summary

Pulls and packs patient orders, ensuring timely and accurate shipment of orders, participates in regular inventory audits and cycle counts, restocking inventory, erecting boxes, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of warehouse. This position will also be responsible for preparing shipments for packing and moving merchandise around safely with a forklift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately picks and packs products for shipment
  • Receives incoming stock; unload trucks, place stock to locations
  • Shrink-wraps skids, stages skids and loads them onto pallet racks
  • Breaks down products into bins for use on the conveyer line
  • Erects boxes daily
  • Inspects shipping and receiving equipment, and notifies supervisor for need of maintenance, repair or replacement
  • Performs general warehouse duties
  • Keeps shipping and inventory areas clean, neat, safe and secure

Other Responsibilities

  • Assists with regular audits of physical counts of inventory, reconciling counts with system records
  • Works effectively with patients, vendors and fellow employees
  • Maintains scheduling flexibility to ensure supervisory/management availability for all hours of operation; must be able to work additional hours when needed, Saturdays are mandatory
  • Follows all Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance regulations and requirements
  • Actively participates in Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Demonstrates thoroughness with all work related activities; strives to continually improve quality and productivity results displayed by Shipping personnel on an ongoing basis
  • Abides by all policies, procedures, and protocols set forth in the departmental, CCS Medical Personnel and Administrative Policy Manuals
  • All other duties as assigned by the Shipping Manager

Position Accountability

Quality Control: Ensures the integrity of data shipments to maximize accuracy and completeness; ensures that company philosophies, policies, and procedures regarding patients, applicants, and other vendors are maintained
Safety: Meets all safety guidelines relevant to departmental and individual policies and procedures
Confidentiality: Adheres to HIPAA guidelines, company privacy and confidentiality policies
Compliance: Ensures effective documentation and adherence to Medicare and Private insurance guidelines

Responsibility

Reports to: Shipping Supervisor
Supervisory: None

Primary Customers

Internal: Departmental employees, team leads, and managers. Employees, managers, team leads, and supervisors of other departments
External: Patients, supplier contacts

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to read and interpret simple instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Knowledge of the computer keyboard and the operation of Windows based software system and associated printer
  • Demonstrates ability to perform basic math skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions

Physical Requirements

Frequent: Speaking; hearing; standing; walking indoors; use of hands/fingers; handle or feel objects, tools or controls; lifting up to 40 lbs; close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; ability to adjust focus
Occasional: Sitting; walking outdoors; reaching with hands and arms; stooping; kneeling; crouching; crawling; lifting up to 70 lbs; moving up to 75 lbs; carrying up to 25 lbs; reaching above and below shoulder height
